Proud Galleries was launched 1998 by Alex Proud, with the aim of bringing the very best in high quality photography to the mainstream market. Proud instantly took the photography world by storm and quickly grew into Europe's most popular private photography gallery. Continually showing the work of the world's best photographers, Proud has hosted shows by everyone from Terry O'Neill to Jerry Schatzberg, Gered Mankowitz to Ken Russell.

The gallery instantaneously attracted a huge amount of press coverage and saw star-studded launch parties and an enormous buzz, both of which have continued to this day.

It all started with Proud Central, and grew to establish Proud Camden and now Proud Chelsea. Today Proud Central aims to support and nurture young talent and emerging artists by opening up the space to exhibition proposals - new talent is important to Alex and he aims to use Proud Central in the best possible way.
